• I went to New Jersey and found an apartment.
• I walked around the Village and found where my classrooms will be.
• I converted to the religion of IKEA.
• I rode a couple trains.
• I got drunk at my soon-to-be sister-in-law's bridal shower/afterparty.
• I baked a wicked batch of blueberry muffins and banana bread last night.
• I'm going to be baking these today ('cause I'm a fattie).
• I have my copy of SPACED that will actually play in my DVD player.  SO EXCITED!
• I really need to pack.

It's been a while since I've talked about any of the movies I've watched.  So, I'll just comment about the ones I can remember seeing since graduation.

• Wristcutters: A Love Story     Not terrible.  Kinda eh.
• Into the Wild     Pretentious.  Boring.  "HEY!  LOOK!  ALASKA IS PRETTY!"
• Lars and the Real Girl     Didn't hate it.  Didn't love it.  Probably wouldn't watch it again.
• Juno     Gag me with a spoon.
• Forgetting Sarah Marshall     LOOOOOVED IT!
• Black Sheep     Entertaining.  Could've used more sheep fucking jokes.
• Teeth     Campy and awesome.
• Wall-E     Hi, I'm the one person on the planet who hated this movie.
• The Beast with a Billion Backs     I love the tentacle Futurama.  And this was great (not as good as Bender's Big Score but still very entertaining).

Okay, so the Nerf DS Lite case is pretty cool, right?  It's an obnoxious color, it makes it a little bit easier to hold, and definitely protects the DS.  However, it is a bitch to get off.  And it had to be removed because I got Guitar Hero last night and needed to play it right away.  Chrissy's poor DS is scratched to hell 'cause the sucker would just not come off.  Mine was a little easier to remove this morning with the help of a letter opener... but my fingers and nails are still smarting.

Guitar Hero for DS, though?  TOTALLY WORTH THE PAIN!

Now, I'm gonna go knit some cases for us.

So, when I first got facebook way back in '05, I went through and added all the people with my last name.  There weren't that many at the time, but since facebook opened up beyond the university crowd, the number shot up to the 140's.  Well, I got really bored today and went through and added people again.  There were people from Italy and Switzerland, and quite a few from Colombia.  One of the Colombian guys who accepted my invite messaged me in Spanish and I replied in Spanish.  It's pretty much the coolest thing I've ever used my limited knowledge of Spanish for (well, you know, aside from conversing with people in Mexico).  It takes me a while to write the emails 'cause I keep rechecking my sentences (don't wanna sound too gringa) but it's still so freakin' cool.

Hm, well, that is all.

I think I'm going to get a Mac.  I've watched tons of tutorials on Apple and it just seems so much cooler than my omg-my-laptop-died-I-need-something-NOW Vaio impulse buy.  My fancy new LG enV comes today, so I think I'll hold off on the new computer for a week or so... depending on how long it takes me to figure out how to work the new cell phone (holy crap, I'm actually gonna have service around town! and in my own bedroom!!)

Mmmkay, back to bigbang stuff.

So, finding an apartment has been... interesting.  I check craigslist everyday just to get an idea of what's available.  I have a roommate ad in NYU's system which hasn't resulted in any responses.  My roommates.com profile has yielded a couple responses... kinda creepy ones, though.  One is a 35 year old straight guy with a house in Brooklyn who says he can help me find a job in the City--uhm, no thanks.  Another is a 24 year old straight woman in Manhattan who just sent me pictures of a suuuuper cute apartment on W 34 Street.  The wording in her email was a little strange, though.  I'm gonna try to get down to the City next weekend to look around a bit.  Plane and train tickets are surprisingly cheap right now, so may as well try to find something.  I really wanna live in the Village... Mostly 'cause NYU is right there, but also because when I was in middle school I read a Monkees biography (I was an odd child) and Peter Tork made the Village sound SO freakin' cool.  It might be worth it to just walk around and see if anyone has For Rent signs up.

Sigh.  I'm kinda wishing I had applied for on-campus housing when I applied for admission.  An outrageously overpriced 400 sq ft studio share isn't sounding too bad right about now.

Kitchen Confidential Updated Ed: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (P.S.)

Anthony Bourdain

So, the way I feel about Anthony Bourdain is similar to the way I feel about Britney Spears: I kind of hate him but I'm completely enthralled at the same time.  I think he's kind of a douche and totally egotistical, but I watch No Reservations all the time and am currently reading Kitchen Confidential (just as self indulgent as I expected--he didn't disappoint).  I also spend too much time watching Food Network, thus I was tickled pink to read Bourdain's thoughts on FN "chefs."  Let me end this entry with mine:

• Alton is super awesome
• Emeril is scary
• Bobby bothers me
• Mario is neat and shops at our Wegmans!
• Duff is entertaining
• Giada is pretty okay
• RR sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks
• Paula is totally gonna OD on butter and mayonnaise

Now, I'm gonna go cook some Kraft mac-n-cheese (dude, it's the stove-top kind--that totally counts as cooking).

Next weekend is the Ithaca Festival.  They're doing an interesting little thing this year... well, BIG thing actually.  They're hoping to break the record by making the largest human peace sign.  Crazy kids.  If it's not too hot out, I might join them.

I just spent the last few hours sitting in the sun reading World War Z and eating fresh cherries.  Definitely got some color in spite of wearing a long sleeve shirt (eh, an Indian gauzey tunic type deal, not like a winter long sleeve shirt), capris, and sunblock.  And I'm definitely feeling all that sun I took in.  Whoosh.

I think it's nap time.

I now owe the government $23,500.  Ugh.  Here's hoping I graduate with a job in my field where I can make that in a year.  And I've still gotta take out a loan for rent/transportation expenses otherwise no one in the City will let me sign a lease.  Grad school is kinda depressing.

The bright side?  I've got a plastic baggie full of sour gummi worms (2 different types) and sour patch kids.  It hurts so good.

And just 'cause I've been kinda bad at updating lately (side note: thanks for all the game recommendations... I'm kinda geeky and addicted to Teenage Zombies at the moment heh), here's some pictures from when we went to my grandma Pru's house this past weekend:

The highlights include: walking down to Buck's Falls and stepping in poison ivy, sweating like a mofo, playing with Mad Dog III who looks just like Genta, and stuffing ourselves with the best BBQ chicken this side of Acapulco.
