First we went to Stewart Park to swing, avoid stepping in 8 different kinds of poop, and lake gazing.
Then, we went to Newfield to see the covered bridge. It was thrilling. And we totally fell in love with that house. It's for sale.
Chrissy's flight out of Philadelphia got canceled, so she's now flying into Elmira. I had to get Google map directions to the airport since I've never been to that one before. Know what the address is? 276 Sing Sing Road. Gotta love living in Upstate New York; always an hour's drive from a handful of major prisons.
Protesters from Godhatesfags.com... First they'll be protesting the deaths of 5 cheerleaders at Fairport High School and, then coming over to Cornell to protest all the perverts running around (Cornell is considered "bad" because of its LGBT services... which are actually really amazing).
They should plan their protests better. If they'd come the last week of August, they'd be surrounded by thousands of bleeding-heart college students who love to protest as much as the kids at PCU. Now that would be worth waking up early for.
I saw three movies this weekend: In the Land of Women, Disturbia, and Hot Fuzz. Itlow sucked... really bad. Seth Cohen--I mean Adam Brody was pretty decent but surprisingly skinny (it distracted me a bit). Meg Ryan's lips are scary. It also had a cancer storyline and I hate things with cancer storylines. Disturbia was awesome. I can't remember the last time I jumped and screamed in a movie theater. And Hot Fuzz was amazing, which I knew it would be. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are my favorite on screen duo.
So, despite being in a movie theater for the better part of the (beautiful) day, we did make it outside for a wee bit. Below Chrissy shows off her new skateboard, there are some pictures from around Ithaca, pictures from the Poverty Awareness concert on the Commons, and blooming cherry trees. There are also a few random videos.
So, in the Cornell Daily Sun they have a section like the overheard in nyc feed. It's hilarious. Here are some of my favorites:
Guy #1: So how was your day?
Guy #2: Uhh ... Do you want the long version or the short version?
Guy #3: Well we're showering, so give me the long one.

Frat Boy 1: She called me emotionally insensitive. I can't believe it.
Frat Boy 2: What does that even mean?
Frat Boy 1: I have no clue. I don't even care.

Physics TA: [shows painting of the Nativity scene] Do you know who painted this?
[No one answers]
Physics TA: How about you, what is your guess?
Dumb Chick: I was going to say Jesus.

Senior Girl 1: So what do you want to do off of that 161 things to do list
before we graduate?
Senior Girl 2: I was thinking Conservatory, Ice Skating, …
Senior Girl 1: [Interrupting] I'm sorry; all I can think right now is snow penis.
— Dining Hall
Girl: Ugh, my stomach hurts.
Guy: Maybe it's your ovaries…
Girl: ...Do you think it could be from last night?
— Olin Café
Girl: With this new facebook thing, I'm so bored. It's like the Industrial Revolution…my entire mode of production has changed.
Guy: What are you going to do with your free time now?
Girl: Smoke weed.

That's 13 14 credits. Neat. It is going to be a lot of work, especially with applying to grad school. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep on top of everything (unlike I did this semester... Within the next week and a half I have to write 25 pages worth of anthropology papers that I haven't even checked out the books for, much less actually formulated a thesis or two--ugh).
I think I'm kind of digging this new Vox layout. The facebook one sucks, though.
My dearest sister bought me a chicken caesar pita from Chili's--it was delicious and I'll be content for a week. On our way to the recycling center I saw there was a new building going up (a big deal in Ithaca--it's not like Naples where there are things constantly being built). Guess what it is! A MOE'S!!!! Woohoo! I know I shouldn't be thrilled about another chain restaurant, but jeez oh man, I love Moe's (Tijuana Flats is definitely better but I takes what I can gets). I can't wait to eat a Triple Lindy. That will be a happy day.
Watch video of this year's Dragon Day. Hopefully next year it won't be as snowy and they can really get a fire going.
What is your favorite greasy spoon?

In Naples the place to go is The Clock. It's open 24/7 and has delicious crinkle fries. I've had some good times there... and some not so good but the good ones far outweigh the bad.
In Ithaca there's a diner called Mano's. Well, half of the restaurant is Mano's and the other half is the Ichabod Lounge. I've never actually been to the Mano's side... but the Ichabod is cool. They've got a decent open face turkey sandwich (needs a lot of salt) and you can play Quick Draw.
And finally, the Community Restaurant on Main Street in Cortland. They've also got awesome crinkle fries and an open face turkey sandwich that doesn't need a ton of salt. Their hot chocolate is like an orgasm in a cup with real whipped cream.
