I now owe the government $23,500. Ugh. Here's hoping I graduate with a job in my field where I can make that in a year. And I've still gotta take out a loan for rent/transportation expenses otherwise no one in the City will let me sign a lease. Grad school is kinda depressing.
The bright side? I've got a plastic baggie full of sour gummi worms (2 different types) and sour patch kids. It hurts so good.
And just 'cause I've been kinda bad at updating lately (side note: thanks for all the game recommendations... I'm kinda geeky and addicted to Teenage Zombies at the moment heh), here's some pictures from when we went to my grandma Pru's house this past weekend:
The highlights include: walking down to Buck's Falls and stepping in poison ivy, sweating like a mofo, playing with Mad Dog III who looks just like Genta, and stuffing ourselves with the best BBQ chicken this side of Acapulco.
BONUS JESUS PICTURE! He's only sleeping, promise.
From my Forensic Anthropology lab on Friday. We had to take pictures of bones (obviously). My group was left unsupervised for too long though...
My mom and I stopped at Greek Peak today. I'd never been before but my mom used to go skiing there when she was a kid. On the way back to Ithaca we stopped to look around the Virgil Cemetery.I spent a better part of the afternoon making collages to dispaly during the museum vigil I'm holding on Thursday. They came out pretty decent.
Oh, and here are some pictures I took on Thursday evening:
Chrissy and I were showing Tasha (!!!) the Commons and that VW was parked on State. Crazy Ithacans.
So, dinner was good. There were eight of us and we managed not to get banned from Garcia's by keeping the rowdy-geek conversation at a tolerable level. We went our separate ways after birthday flan, and Ligia, Nathan, and I hit up Walmart for some shoe shopping, hula hooping, and dressing up in Easter decorations (those pictures are on Ligia's camera). Then, we stopped by Applebee's, had some after dinner drinks and conversation. It was quite enjoyable. Indeed. I think I'll pass on strawberry daiquiris for a while, though.
Some random pictures I had hanging out in my camera for the past couple months:
And now a look at what my weekend holds:
I've got a test in Cultural Psychology to study for and a writing test in Spanish. Not quite sure how I'm going to prepare for them, but I'll figure something out. The other two columns of books are for my thesis. I raided the stacks at Olin with Chrissy this afternoon and found some surprisingly decent sources at Cortland's library, too. Now I just have to read them.
In other news, I've heard nothing from the remaining grad schools (uh, since yesterday... what? I'm impatient!). I've started researching several alternatives just in case I don't get accepted to any of the programs I applied to... I think I'll make an appointment with Steadman at some point this week to hear her thoughts. Hm. Also, the chili festival is next weekend! YAY! And the New Pornographers are coming to Ithaca in April! Definitely gotta get tickets to that.

From a couple weekends ago:
We had some pretty wicked hail. It was great. And after checking out the Apple Harvest Festival (it sucked... way overpriced, though it's the only place I've ever seen old hippies, college students, Tibetan monks, a Mayan man, and Mennonites mingling in the same place), my mom and I headed over to Ithaca Falls before stopping by the high school. Cornell is considered "Big Read" and, obviously, Ithaca High is "Lil Red."
And these are from this afternoon:
Fall has definitely arrived.
I tried a new Japanese place tonight with my mom. Ithaca has quite a few awesome Asian eateries.
Plum Tree is the best, but this was one had pretty good gyoza.
How about some cute cat pictures?
Yeah, they're pretty adorable.
