Where do you consider home? Is it the place you grew up; the place you're currently living? Why is it home?

Even though I've only been living in Ithaca for three years, it definitely feels more like home than Naples. Naples is an area of such rapid development that it feels incredibly foreign after being gone just a year. Plus, the house where I grew up is nothing like what it was... my childhood room is barren and it's weird to see what little I left behind stuffed in unmarked boxes in the closet. Naples isn't home anymore and probably won't be ever again. I've lived in three different apartments since I came to Ithaca and I'll have to move at some point next summer for grad school, but New York in general is definitely my home.
What are five things that most people don't know about you?

- I have been on one rollercoaster in my life. Thunder Mountain in Disney World. It scared the shit out of me and I haven't been on one since.
- I own a lot of underwear. A lot. Mostly from American Eagle. And I refuse to refer to them as "panties."
- Part of the reason I chose to go to UCF was because I thought I might run into *NSYNC guys if I lived in Orlando. (I never did.)
- My grandpa calls me his secretary because I'll type his letters for $5. When I first started applying for jobs I actually included it on my resume.
- I smell silverware before I use it. If it smells like dishwater I won't eat with it.
What's your favorite card game?
Idiot's Delight. My mom taught me when I was a kid. Now whenever I'm bored and there happens to be a deck of cards around, I play it over and over. So far my best is getting it down to 2 cards.
What is the most interesting class you have ever taken?

Ummm there are a few... Gender in Cross-Cultural Perspective. Social Psychology. Peoples of the Middle East. Anthropological Theory.
Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself.
I have an irrational fear of all natural disasters except for hurricanes.
I love New Orleans.
I cried at my third birthday and told my mom I was sad because I'd never be two again.
Is it obvious? For people who know me pretty well, it probably is.
Are you taking a vacation this summer (or this season)? Where are you headed and who's going with you?
So far I have two major trips planned:
- June 2nd, Chrissy and I are leaving Ithaca and driving to Naples, FL. There will be some hanging out with friends, some lounging around doing nothing, and Taylor's wedding festivities.
- June 12th, Chrissy, Adam, and I are taking a flight out of Miami and landing in Mexico City. We're going to be in D.F. the first and last two nights of our stay, I believe. The time in between will be spent wandering around central and southern Mexico. We'll probably spend some time in Acapulco, Vera Cruz, and Palenque, checking out the beach, museums, and archaeological sites (definitely Pacal's temple). We get back to Florida on June 21st and I fly back to Ithaca shortly thereafter.
That's all I have figured out so far. I'd like to get to Canada and visit NYC to see Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprise their roles in RENT on Broadway. There might also be a trip to West Fulton, NY to see my grandma Pru which would be lovely.
P.S. I made the President's List this semester. Two A-'s, one A, and an A+ (in Theory, whoa!). Hells yeah.
What, to you, is the first sign of spring? Have you seen it yet?

Daffodils... both growing outside and the ones people buy to support cancer research. So far I've only seen the cancer ones but there's still snow on the ground, so it'll probably be a few more weeks until things start popping out of the ground. I happen to hate daffodils. I'd never really been in close contact with them til I moved up to New York. During my first spring at the South Asia Program everyone bought the cancer research ones and had them on their desks. That's when I found out they make me sneeze and give me terrible headaches. So, I hate daffodil time.
